And We’re Done!
What a Journey!
I rolled into St. Augustine, Florida on the afternoon of Sunday October 16, 2022 after an incredible journey of 3,100 miles in 35 days, averaging 89 miles per day. I lost about ten pounds on the trip, so that’s a bonus. But most importantly we raised over $11,000 for Lymphoma Research; I am so happy I have managed to contribute something to this wonderful cause. I had a lot of time in the saddle to reflect on my life with Pia, how grateful I am for meeting her, and for the deep love we shared together. This trip has helped me come to terms with her loss to cancer, while bringing me closer to her family; we all miss her so much. If you donated to this adventure, thank you for supporting the cause.
Please follow my Instagram account @xencyclist where you can see pictures of the trip, many taken by my son Jonny who’s not only a talented photographer but also a fantastic traveling partner. I absolutely could not have made the journey without him. I got a little depressed after the ride as the planning and build-up had been so long and intense. So I’ve decided to do another ride next year and may make it an annual outing to honor my wife in the best way I can. Perhaps you would like to follow my adventures too.
